Revelation 14 Notes

Please refer to the accompanying study to make full use of these notes.

The Rapture of the 144,000 – Revelation 14:1-5

In :1 we see them standing on Mt. Zion with Jesus.

In :3 they are standing before the Throne of God.

How did they get from Mt. Zion to Heaven?

Both locations are literal.

They are raptured before the end of last 3 1/2 years.

The same 144,000 of Revelation 7.

They are Jewish unmarried male evangelists.

God’s voice is heard calling them into His presence.

Received with melodious harp music.

They have an exclusive Heavenly song.

Only they can know and sing this song.

“Redeemed” refers to their rapture.

They are the first to be saved Jews to reach Heaven.

Christ’s special attendants throughout the Millennium and eternity.

They are loyal and committed to Christ.

“Firstfruits” = first to be saved during Antichrist years.

They never cheated, deceived or compromised.

They are faultless (Zephaniah 3:13).

Do we live a single day without guile?

The firstfruits had to be pure and without blemish.

This is why special attention is given to them.

The Angelic Preacher – Revelation 14:6-7

This angel preaches at the close of the final 3 1/2 years.

The Church and 144,000 will have gone.

He will preach the true gospel (Galatians 1:8).

We are responsible for preaching salvation today.

After the rapture the 144,000 will preach.

The gospel must be preached until the end (Matthew 24:14).

The New Testament era began will angels announcing Good News.

The age will end almost the same way.

Not a babe is born, but the King is coming!

This angel is a literal angel.

Nothing can hinder the true gospel being preached.

Everyone on earth will hear and see him.

He will call the unmarked to repentance.

He will reveal that it is too late for the marked.

First he calls mankind to fear God.

Few people then or now fear God (Romans 3:18 see Psalm 36:1).

Like Pharaoh they harden their hearts.

They do not listen to love or judgement sermons.

Secondly, he calls them to worship God.

To glorify God is to true repent.

To glorify God is to accept Him as Lord.

To glorify God is to acknowledge Him as Creator (Psalm 95:6).

The angel points them to Genesis.

The devil hates both Genesis and Revelation.

False teachers say they are both fairy tales.

God’s creation is heading for destruction (2 Peter 3:10-12).

Mankind is being offered a choice.

He will preach a “Heaven or Hell?” message.

We too have the same choice.

Follow Jesus Christ to Heaven or

Follow Satan to damnation.

Babylon Will Fall – Revelation 14:8

Christ must triumph over all godless societies.

Christ must be victorious over all corrupt religions.

His wrath will fall upon spiritual and political Babylon.

Here we see the imminent destruction of Babylon.

Revelation chapter 18 has more to say about this.

See Isaiah 21:9.

Spiritual Babylon is Rome, until Antichrist destroys it.

She has defied God and His Word.

She has persecuted the true Church of Christ.

She will be destroyed for spiritual fornication / prostitution.

This is seen on the earthly level too.

Her priests are being investigated all around the world.

See Ephesians 5:3-5.

All the world is seduced by Rome, and will be by rebuilt Babylon

Our world leaders visit her high priest for advice and blessing.

Religious Babylon must fall before Christ reigns on earth.

Her followers claim to be in the church built upon the rock.

But the true Rock will crush her once and for all soon.

See 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

God’s Judgement on the Wicked – Revelation 14:9-12

Here we see those who are the damned.

They will experience the full weight of wrath.

They choose to follow the Beast.

They choose to reject God and His Word.

They choose to sell their souls to Satan.

The state will control religion.

Religion rather than politics will unite people.

Damnation is eternal.

The teaching of annihilation is false.

Does a God of love send people to Hell?

He must or Christ’s sacrifice is undermined forever.

These people choose to reject the Lamb of God.

It’s their own choice – their own fault.

“Fire and brimstone” is a reminder of Sodom and Gomarra.

They refused to take the way of escape.

Those who teach otherwise are fools.

Not a single moment of relief from torment.

No light at the end of the tunnel.

No deliverance from a so-called purgatory.

God’s love can only be applied on this side of eternity.

Only true saints enter God’s Kingdom.

True saints do not compromise.

They endure to the end (Matthew 10:22).

They keep God’s Word faithfully (John 14:23).

Obedience is proof of our love for God.

They keep their faith in Christ.

This means they believe and promote the truth.

Only these escape God’s wrath (John 3:15).

Evenso only a few make it (Matthew 7:14).

The Heavenly Reward – Revelation 14:13

Who gets to Heaven?

What will their reward be?

Who are the dead in Christ?

The answers affect every true believer.

Those who die in Christ are those who were in Him in life.

True believers live, die and rise in Christ.

Watch that little word “in”.

We must be “in” before eternity starts.

The “in” begins at salvation (1 Corinthians 5:17).

Those in Christ have no fear of death (Philippians 1:21).

Those in Him are the only ones who can be blessed.

The text says that labourers are rewarded.

Labourers preach, teach, witness and guide others to Christ.

Only labourers enter the Rest (Matthew 11:28).

Labour now – rest then (Hebrews 4:9).

Not fluffy clouds but heavenly service.

God’s presence is the place of real rest.

Be faithful now – get rewarded then (Matthew 25:21).

What will your personal reward be?

Only God knows the answer, but …..

Matthew 6:20; 1 Corinthians 3:12-14; 1 Corinthians 2:9.

The rewards, joys and blessings are for those “in” Christ. (Colossians 2:6-7).

The Harvester – Revelation 14:14-16

Here we are presented with the Great Harvester.

He is the Son of Man – the Messiah.

He came once as the Saviour of sinners.

He will come as the Lord of the saints.

The world rejects Him as the only way of salvation.

The world will soon know that He is Lord.

White cloud = perfect holiness, purity and glory.

Golden crown = King, Lord, Eternal Government.

He will come to establish His Millennial Kingdom.

Sharp sickle represents the harvest of the remaining faithful.

Reaping the wheat (Matthew 13:30).

Separation of saved from damned (Matthew 25:32).

Ripe = “fullness of the Gentiles” (Romans 11:25).

The Grim Reaper – Revelation 14:17-20

An angel with a sharp sickle appears from the temple in Jerusalem.

This sickle is for reaping the ungodly.

Symbolic of God’s wrath at Armageddon.

A second angel comes from the altar of incense.

He is commanded to strike.

Armageddon will come at a preordained time.

True believers will not be around to see it.

Wrath upon Christ-rejecting world.

“Ripe” = the full measure of evil.

“Vine, grapes” – Which vine are we connected to?

See John 15:5.

Each person chooses which vine he wants to hang around with.

Ripe fruit must be harvested (Mark 4:29).

The vine of the earth does not go into God’s barn.

The winepress of God’s wrath = Armageddon.

This is unmerciful judgement (Romans 1:18, Psalm 2:12).

Armageddon takes place near literal Jerusalem.

Isaiah 63:1-4 and Joel 3:9-17 describes this event.

Antichrist’s army assembles to destroy Jerusalem.

But Jesus destroys all of them (2 Thessalonians 2:8).

Antichrist and False Prophet cast into Lake of Fire (Revelation 19:13-21).

Satan is bound for 1,000 years in bottomless pit.

These events take place prior to Christ’s Millennial Kingdom.

Satan wants Jerusalem destroyed so Jesus cannot reign.

God will not allow Jerusalem to be destroyed.
